My studio exclusively offers lessons on a per-semester basis.

Lesson Format & Health

I offer both in-person and online (Zoom) lessons, and I'm happy to help you decide which fits your child best if you're not sure. Learn what to expect when you study flute with me online via Zoom.

When you register, you'll choose a default lesson format for the semester — Online or In-Person. You can switch from week to week, but I need at least 48 hours' notice, or I may not be able to honor the request.

If a student has a sore throat, runny nose, fever, or any contagious illness, we'll move that lesson online until they've fully recovered and it's comfortable to meet in person again. This keeps everyone healthy and means no lesson is lost to a common cold.

Observed Studio Holidays

I do not schedule or teach lessons on observed studio holidays — enjoy your time off!

• US Federal Holidays: Labor Day, Indigenous Peoples' Day / Columbus Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, Memorial Day, and Independence Day.
• Two weeks of school vacation: one week in February and one week in April (please see the semester dates).

Missed Lessons (Student Cancellation)

Lessons missed due to a student's absence are not made up, unless the student has purchased a package that includes rescheduling flexibility. Please contact me as soon as possible if a lesson will be missed, regardless of which package you have.

Recognized Religious Holidays

If an absence is due to a generally recognized religious holiday, a make-up lesson will be arranged — but I must be informed in writing at least two weeks before the conflicting lesson date. If the absence isn't communicated in time, the lesson will not be made up.

Teacher Absence (Performances)

I perform concerts frequently throughout the year. If my performance schedule conflicts with a scheduled lesson, I'll arrange a make-up within the same week at a mutually agreeable time. If a student misses the rescheduled lesson, it will not be made up.

Snow Closures

Snow-closure make-up lessons are moved to a different day in the same week. Online lessons via Zoom are also available on snow days if rescheduling to another day that week isn't possible. If a student misses the rescheduled lesson, it will not be made up.

Summer Lessons

Summer lesson times and dates are set with me before the summer semester begins. Once scheduled, a lesson missed by the student will not be made up unless the student has purchased a package that includes scheduling flexibility.

Studio Rules and Etiquette

• Please make every effort to arrive on time. Time lost to tardiness cannot be made up.
• Students are expected to be respectful, punctual, and well-behaved. A student who cannot conduct themselves appropriately will be asked to leave the lesson with no refund.
• Students must come prepared with their instrument and all materials for each lesson.
• No food, gum, or candy at any lesson.
• Cell phones may not be used or visible during lessons unless being used to record audio — in which case the phone must be fully silenced.
• Students are expected to be respectful toward themselves, their fellow students (in group classes, masterclasses, and recitals), and me.
• Parents: you're welcome to sit in on lessons, though it's not required. The studio is an educational environment, much like a school classroom — please treat it as such.

Boston Flute Lessons will never willfully disclose individually identifiable information about its customers to any third party without first receiving that customer's permission.

Boston Flute Lessons has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate my commitment to privacy. The following discloses my information gathering and dissemination practices for the Web and my customers and viewers. 

Boston Flute Lessons may use services such as Mailchimp, HubSpot, Google Analytics, Kit, and similar technologies to track email-list signups and other events that occur on the company's website.

Boston Flute Lessons believes that strong electronic privacy is crucial for the ongoing success of the internet as a service, commercial, and entertainment medium. To this end, unless you designate otherwise, the information you enter through my website will be known to only two parties: You and Boston Flute Lessons.
